Well, does anyone still use DOS command lines still? At sixteen, I still have used the line from time to time in Win 7. I haven't used dos since I was like nine or something, when we couldn't afford a true computer.
Command-line in any operating system anymore is mainly used for automation tasks or large-scale file manuipulation. Another way to use some command line tools if you're interested is to research how to use them within the context of your editor, for Grep and other search / regexp operations.
If this sounds geeky gobledeegook, it is: the command-line is geeky gobbledeegook for people who are paid to do that shit for the rest of normal humanity who's got better things to do.
In other words, using it to do anything that users would want to do? That is pretty well long gone. Surprised a 16-year-old even knows what a command line is, but now out of curiosity I'm going to ask my daughter after work if she knows. If she saw one, I'm pretty certain she'd want nothing to do with it.
